Happy Halloween
I'll have to post photos on Monday of The Boi's and mine outfit... can't give it away just yet....
but I get to incorporate a corset into my outfit (I wish I could do that everyday).
I'm currently struggling to avoid sugar/starchy carbs at the moment - hello South Beach diet (recommended by a doctor friend of mine - must be good). I think I have lost a kilo - mainly off my feet and hands i 'spect cos its not showing up in my clothes. Its really hard, especially right now with parties and social events going on. The Boi and I went to Coogee Beach last night for a swim* and fish-n-chips, I had to bring my own dinner, no battered fish and no potatoes. Tonite will be hard too - I forgot no alcohol and there will be heaps of sugary goodness according to Kris' blog.
No sugar + no potatoes + no bread = very grumpy Bex. Poor Boi, he's trying to be supportive but I think sometimes he just wants to give me a jam sandwich.
* it was 37 degrees in the city, and we got to the beach just after that cold change came through - 20 degrees? Went swimming anyway, it was OK after your legs went numb.

VeganMoFo is upon us!
VeganMoFo is the Vegan Month Of Food. Based on NaNoWriMo, our collective goal
as vegan bloggers is to write about food for the entirety of October. The
rules are pretty loose, and different people are participating in different
ways. You can get a list of all the participants here. There’s a flickr group
here. And now they’re having Iron Chef Challenges. So clevah!
(borrowed from My Aim Is True)
In honour of my hard-core vegan brothers and sisters, i'm gonna share some of my favourite vegan recipes this month.
Introducing:
Carrot and Sultana Muffins, taken from Vegan With a Vengeance.
The Boi loves these so much (now I've gotten the recipe figured). The are low fat (without the icing), low sugar but still sweet and moist. Also really easy to make.
Muffins (makes 12):
1/2 cup of sultanas, soaking in hot water
1 ½ cup of plain flour
2 tsp of Baking Powder
½ tsp of Bi-carb
½ tsp of cinnamon
½ tsp of nutmeg
4 tabs of sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup (250ml) of soy milk
1 tsp vanilla
4 tabs of vegie oil
3 grated carrots
Icing:
½ cup of icing sugar
3-4 tabs of lemon juice
3-4 tabs of nuttlex/margarine
Heat oven to 200C, grease muffin tin.
Sift dry ingredients (flour, spices, bi-carb, baking powder) and mix in salt and sugar. Make a well in the centre, and pour in liquids. Mix til barely combined. Add the carrots, mix a bit more. Drain the sultanas, mix them in too.
Spoon into muffin tins (fill ¾ full) and bake for 20-25 min, until a skewer comes out clean.
Cool on a rack.
Mix icing sugar and nuttlex together and add lemon juice til a stiff consistency is gotten – ice cupcakes. Yum!

yeah, camera still broken.

Risky Lunar Love
Anyways,
On Thursday Emily + Clare, Kris, Tannies and I went to see Risky Lunar Love. Its kinda of a Rocky Horror Picture Show meets Little Shop of Horrors meets The Muppet Show. And then meets Blue Hawaii (Elvis movie).
I really, really enjoyed it - my only critiscm was that the music sometimes overwhelmed the actors and you couldnt make out what they said/sang.
With songs like Strap On Love and C*nt C*nt C*nt - well, no wonder we laughed all the way through it. And the outfits were great! I loved some of the dresses, gave me some great costumer ideas hehe.
I wish The Boi could have seen it with me - i know he would have related to Kikkoman, the womanising stud.... LOL
At the 'shram at the moment, the poor Boi is having a rough go of it at the moment - lots of work to be done and little time or help to do it. So I said I would go and keep him company, fetch cups of tea and provide back rubs.
Be back Sunday in time for Gurlesque! Yay!
