Kitty overload

for MissFee, as requested....

A hard weekend

With some heavy duty chainsaw action. (here is an idea of what we removed)

Most of the trees in our front garden were awful - thorny twisted trees that didnt even provide good shade. Two days worth of chainsawing later and we have a bare front yard, nearly ready for replanting (Lillypillies and Chinese Tallows).

After a big day it was time for a nap.

And then to the Butch/Femme/Trans afternoon get together which was really good. A lot of friendly people who were easy to talk to - just what you need on a Sunday afternoon.

Our new fur-baby, Calamity

When we go shopping we always look at the puppies in the pet shop - one day we'll get one we keep saying (but not from a shop!). This time, the girl asked if we wanted a kitten.

Turns out, some guy just walked in with her, dumped her on the counter and said he didnt want her then left. They couldnt sell her - they had tried the RSPCA and Cat Protection Society both which said they are overrun with kittens at the moment. The girl was desperate to give her a good home...

Well - The Boi is a softy for bundles of fur, especially kittys.
She's adorably cute, full of pouncy energy one minute and a sleepy bundle of purrs the next.
(and yes, i've already knitted 2 mouse toys and a ball-rope thing for her - International Cat Hats here we come! hehe)

Shoes of Ultimate Hotness...

One of my friends just went to the US for work - buy some yarn she says.
So I did.

I obviously didnt buy enough because she told me to buy more stuff....

Behold the Shoes of Ultimate Hotness.

I have lusted after these shoes for the past 6 months (and they are $200 here, and $160 at Faster Pussycat in Newtown) - $50US including postage to San Francisco. Woot!
(they are from Torrid.com if anyone is interested)

Tangled yarns and kitty mitts

I love the layout of Tangled Yarns, a soon to be new online store. It looks so clean and fresh - and the blog is such a tease!

I mean - look at this!

I dont even know what yarn it is, but I want it. I cant wait for the online store to be open so I can spend some of my yarn dollars there :).

TANIA - if you are reading look away now. Thanks.

Decided to add one more project to my ever growing pile of WIPs - Cat Mittens by Jorid Linvik. Tania loves cats, and loves handknits so it seems perfect. I had some black Patonyle lying around, then hand-dyed some 4ply Merino Bambino the perfect teal colour. Hopefully this week i can post some photos. Here's the one that shows on Ravelry - its by Leigh_m.

Took me three tries to get gauge - on 3mm if you would belive that! I normally would knit this yarn on 2.5mm needles.

Its a slow go on the house at the moment, and The Boi hurt hys back on Sunday and has been bedridden - poor thing. Came home early from soccer, nearly in tears because the pain was so bad - yoga couldnt fix it either. Off to physio this arvo and hopefully that will help.

I'm still alive!

But tied down with my work's move to Liverpool, the Sydney Mardi Gras and having visitors. All led to a very hectic time.

On the knitting front, i've cast on for Kingscot from Twist Collective. The pattern is really quite simple (so far) but the back is dragging on a bit.
Photos to come soon.

Ciao!

Prop 8 - The musical

This is absolute gold! Gay marriage will save the economy... and Jack Black is Jesus! Also stars Margaret Cho.

If you want a laugh for today, I recommend you go watch it.
