Welcome to Darwin

Yup - The Boi and I have come to Darwin courtesy of the parents for a 2 week holiday. We're off to Kakadu for a few days, and then Katherine Gorge as well.
You know when you really, really need a holiday? Thats us at the moment. The house seems overwhelming and we've been biting each other's heads off over the smallest things. Time to relax. Having a hectic social calender hasnt helped either - trying to fit in renovating a house, being with The Boi and still see my friends has been really hard. (photo from Plus One launch - the night before we flew out)

While i've been here i've found: a craft shop that stocks Mission Falls 1824 cotton, a friend of my dad's who spins alpaca and the local tiny library in Karama has a decent range of knitting books! I havent done any knitting at all at the moment - the heat is almost unbearable (The Boi loves it) so i've been hanging out watching TV and reading. We head off to Kakadu on Wednesday and i'm really looking forward to seeing some gorgeous nature.
.
Oh - my parents gave me mum's old moped which means I have wheels! Looking forward to more independance from The Boi and public transport. Take care all! xxx

Snapped, sapped and femmed out ;)

I snapped 3 DPNs that I was using to finish the cat mittens. I need to trek into the city and buy more - possibly on Sunday.

So the mittens are on hold for the moment - but look fabulous. I also scored some plain Patonyle which I dyed red with food dye to make black and red striped socks for a friend - hope they like them.

Went to the Femme Guild meeting last night which was really interesting. Its great to be involved in a group of empowered, political women and I can't wait for the next meeting. (we're organising a party at the Red Rattler in Marrickville). I so wish Emily was here for this - you'd love it hon! As the resident sewer-craft person i'm going to be pretty busy soon making stuff - yay! *note to self - check overlocker still works*.
Not to mention TuTu SnB on Mondays as well - making anigurumis next week...

Forgot to add!

I won a door prize at the ArtSpace - an hours massage! Two prizes in 2 days - yay!

Leather Pride Week

Well, so far its been rather interesting. The Leather History talk was good (with a break down of flagging - make sure you pick your sides!) and amusing.

I was exhausted by the end of Leather Pride Fair Day but have worked enough hours to get 2 x free tickets for Inquisition, one for The Boi and one for me. (We both worked the Launch Party the night before as well).
I also won $100 Sax Leather gift voucher for best dressed female on the day - very chuffed! Although, there was only a handful of women there... hehe.

Tonite is the ArtSpace at Aurora Galleries in Newtown - always a fabulous affair, people in thier best outfits. And Leather Person of the Year will be annouced too (not me, I dont wear enough leather hehe).

We finally got our free insulation installed too - thanks Mr Rudd. Its made so much difference - i advise everyone to get it done ASAP!
