I'm away shortly to the USA for Viva Las Vegas (among other places)... I'll be back in 5 weeks, and will try and do some updates while i'm over there - and hopefully meet some other bloggers!

Much Loved Dressing Jacket, c. 1947
Today's free vintage knitting pattern is another lovely design from The Australian Women's Weekly Knitting Book 1947.
I love these fluffly looking bedjackets/dressing jackets, they look so twee and I would really love to make one someday. I can just imagine it in peach yarn, with a satin bow. I'm hoping the bulky-ness of the jacket makes the waist look slim in comparison?

FO: Smooth Sailing Blouse and Suspender Skirt
Hello Cats and Kittens!
Only two weeks til I fly away, and still sewing like i'm possessed!
I've just finished my latest 1940's outfit - based on this for inspiration:

| From Etsy |
And here's my version:
I used the Smooth Sailing blouse pattern from Wearing History, and the skirt from Simplicity 3688 (with my own suspenders modification).
The blouse is made from a retro quilters cotton print, with vintage buttons off Etsy. The skirt is just navy gaberdine. I LOVE the skirt so much, its so comfortable.
I also have to show-off what Jakk got me for my birthday - a vintage WWII wife's brooch! So sweet!

Miss L Fire Shoes
I love stumbling across a new brand of shoe (new for me, anyway) that's unusual, vintage-inspired and comfortable.
I've managed to get my hands on a couple of pairs of Miss L Fire shoes and they really tick all of those boxes!
Honolulu arrived yesterday in time for Viva Las Vegas - something about the wooden tiki heel rocks my world.

The Water Taxi heels look a little 1940s, with the triangular peep-toe.
I just love the vintage-inspired shoes they do, i'd like to also get Betsy
Or Flamenco
Has anyone else seen Miss L Fire shoes? I've never seen them here in Australia - but thank goodness ASOS delivers to here for free...

Happy Mardi Gras!
*phew*
The month of craziness is finally over!
The Sydney GLBTQI Mardi Gras Parade went off with a bang (a wet bang) and my heart was swelled with pride riding with 200 other dykes/queers/lesbians.
And now for some gratuitous photos!
The day was mostly fine, until just right before we took off - pouring down rain the whole way.

I tried to do a little fifties bob with my hair, but the combination of bike helmet + rain left me looking a bit like this!
Happy Mardi Gras everyone!
